The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified Governor Hope Uzodinma’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that the evidence presented before the court showed that Uzodinma did not win the APC primary election conducted in the senatorial district on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court held that former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, secured the highest number of votes in the primary and was therefore the rightful winner entitled to the party’s ticket.

Consequently, Justice Egwuatu ordered INEC to immediately recognise Okorocha as the authentic APC candidate for the Imo West senatorial election and publish his name accordingly.

The judge also barred Uzodinma from presenting himself as the APC candidate for the contest, effectively stripping him of the party’s senatorial ticket.

The ruling represents a major development in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 senatorial election in Imo West, placing Okorocha in line to represent the party in the race.
