The BOKO Haram insurgents in the North Eastern part of Nigeria has been attributed to the porous nature of borders which permit entrance of criminal and illegal importation of arms.

CEOAFRICA news desk got this brief from the statement of Lieutenant Azubuike Ihejirika, the Chief of Army Staff, who pointed out a lot can be achieved if measures are put in place to secure the borders so as to rout the entry of such criminals and their weapons.

Ihejirika disclosed this in Ibadan at the weekend while responding to questions during the inauguration of a garden built in his honour at the headquarters of 2 Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment.

He however noted that the new 7 Division of the Nigerian Army was established primarily to take charge of North East security in the usual mandate of protecting that part of the country from external aggression or external insurrection.
