President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan met with some of the aggrieved members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as parts of measures to end the ongoing crises rocking the party.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the meeting which began at about 10.30 pm was held at the First Lady’s conference room in the State House, Abuja and journalists were not allowed into the meeting.

Present at the meeting were Governors Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Aliyu Wamako (Sokoto), Babangida Aliyu (Niger) and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa). However, Kwara State Governor. Abdulfatah Ahmed and his Kano state counterpart, Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso were absent because they were out of the country on official assignments. It could not be confirmed whether Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi was at the meeting.

Earlier in the day, President Goodluck Jonathan met with some elders of the party including former Military President Ibrahim Babangida and former National Chairman of the Party, Ahmadu Ali at the Presidential Villa.

Sources disclosed that Governors Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta) and Gabriel Suswam (Benue) were seen at the Presidential Villa before the commencement of the meeting with the aggrieved governors.

It would be recalled that crises erupted at the 2013 Mini National Convention of the party when seven governors angrily left the venue and declared the emergence of ‘New PDP’ with Kawu Baraje as the chairman.

As at the time of collating this report, no statement has been released regarding the outcome of last night’s meeting.
