Gunmen Kidnapped Prison Official in Edo State

T.C Ashibuogwu, a deputy Comptroller of Prisons recently posted to Zone G from Abuja has been kidnapped by gunmen in Benin City, Edo State.

Sources said Mr Ashibuogwu was snatched along Sapele road close to his residence while returning from work.

When CEOAFRICA correspondent called the Edo State Police Spokesperson DSP Moses Eguavoen, he confirmed the incident and said efforts are underway to track the kidnappers within and outside the State.

This is one, out of much abduction carried out in the state recently, despite efforts by the state government to curb the bad act, and over 500 suspected kidnappers is awaiting trial in the state and the House of Assembly before going on recess passed a bill prescribing death sentence for kidnappers.

Last month, human right activist Mike Ozekhome was abducted and he is yet to regain his freedom.
