From Nasarawa State in Nigeria, CEOAFRICA.com received a report that the state’s Ministry of Information and Ethical Re-Orientation office in Lafia gutted fire few hours ago.
Our sources said the fire started from the store of the ministry and destroyed millions of naira worth properties. The damage would have been much, if not for the intervention of ministry’s staffs that uses detergents and water to checkmate the inferno before the arrival of fire fighters.
However, no life was lost in the fire incident, although archival materials such as calendars, historical documents, diaries and other electrical appliances were destroyed.
Speaking about the incident, Commissioner for Information in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Hamza Elayo said the fire outbreak was caused by fluctuated source of supply. He said the inferno started around 10.30 a.m but was put out through efforts of the ministry’s staff before the arrival of fire fighters from the state fire service.
According to him, the ministry’s store was reogarnised before the incident. He said experts would be invited from the state ministry of works to ascertain the level of damage in the building to avoid cracks that might lead to collapse.
