Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, on Monday said the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, would not fail Nigerians.

Wamakko gave the assurance when the members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) in the state paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Sokoto.

He averred that the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government under Buhari will do whatever it takes to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

The governor emphasised that Buhari would ensure social justice, adherence to the rule of law, empower youths and women as well as enhance security in the country.

"All Nigerians will be treated equally and fairly under Buhari while the international community will find Buhari to be a worthy democratic leader.

"We are going in the right direction and have so much confidence in Buhari. And by God's grace, in the next few months Nigerians will begin to see changes,"he said.

Wamakko noted  that the peaceful conduct of the 2015 general election was a victory for democracy in the country.

The governor  said democracy had always been a worthy system of governance over tyranny and other evil forces.
He commended Nigerians for exhibiting maturity during the conduct of the elections, saying the change was made possible as a result of the determination of the people.

He applauded journalists in the state for their objective coverage of the general polls in the nation and urged them to sustain that.

Earlier, the chairperson of the chapel, Mrs. Rakiya Mohammed, told the governor that the visit was to felicitate with him over the victory of the APC in the general elections.
