Civil war veteran, Colonel Oyinlade Iluyomade, has doused fears in some sections of the country that President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari will rule the country as a dictator.

He said that the parameters of democracy upon which Buhari would operate would not permit dictatorship.

Iluyomade, speaking with Nigerian Tribune, noted that the world had become civilised, hence the practice of democracy had become acceptable, which Buhari, as a civilian leader, would not deviate from.

Iluyomade, however noted that he expects Buhari, upon assumption of office on May 29, to foist upon the nation, discipline and not tolerate nonsense from members of his cabinet.

He decried lack of imagination as the bane of Nigerian leadership overtime, while expressing confidence that Buhari would provide the needed dynamic leadership that will better the country.

“Why can’t we get things right in this country, if not lack of imagination by some leaders? Rather than better the country, they assume office to enrich themselves.”

“But I have confidence that Buhari will deliver on his promises to Nigerians. He is a fellow military man and I know him so well. We worked together in Marine Commando,” he said.

While expressing this confidence, Iluyomade enjoined Buhari to implement policies that are beneficial to Nigerians as well as improve the economy of the country.
