How did you get into acting?

I would say it was through determination. A friend of mine helped me out.

Aside Tinsel, what other movies have you featured in?

I have featured in a couple of movies and I will say working in the entertainment industry has been fun.

What’s your educational background?

I’m a graduate of Public Administration from Olabisi Onabanjo University. I am hoping to go for my masters programme soon.

So far, would you say the industry has been fair to you?

I think it should be about life being fair, because when life is fair to you, every other thing comes easy, so far, it has been good and I hope it continues this year, but I thank God that we are still alive despite all the harassment, but as an individual, one has the power to either say yes or no.

Are you being harassed?

I haven’t been harassed before because I will most definitely stand up for myself, I am an actress, I know what I am made of. I really don’t have to kiss anybody’s ass to get a movie role. If a job doesn’t work for me, another movie role will come. So if a director will harass me.... well, it all depends, I will not even put myself in such a position, peradventure it comes up, I will simply say my mind. Which is No! Harassment is just an old school theory now.

What do you think about nudity in Nollywood?

If your being nude in a movie depends on what the character depicts, we all complain that we don’t get Oscar awards, but it’s because we are not doing some things right, those people do their jobs with all they have, that’s why when you sit down to watch a movie, you get engrossed, because it is real, but here in Nigeria, because of our cultural differences, people think we are wayward, I think by the time Nollywood starts shoving people’s opinions aside, we will move forward.

Nudity depends on the character you are playing, if the movie does not entail me to go nude, I will not.

So if you have a reason to go nude for a movie, you will go nude?

If there is a moral lesson attached to that character, of course. I can’t just do it because I feel like looking sexy, there has to me a moral lesson to whatever movie one is doing, if you are going nude to tell the story of a prostitute who died of HIV, then that’s a good reason to tell a story, but if you are not going to tell a reasonable life changing story, then why go nude?

Who inspires you in the industry?

I have always been a lover of Genevieve, whenever I see her act, I fall in love with her acting more. I look up to every big actor, because it’s not easy to get up there.

What are the challenges of a female actress in Nigeria?

I will not say I have challenges because I am 100 percent myself and when you upset me or make me happy, I say my mind. I really don’t care what people say about me because I am human and if you put me on that spot, I still won’t care.

When I feel like eating (roast plantain) boli, I pass by the roadside and buy the boli, I don’t care. I think when you are your real self, what people say will not matter to you.

How did you get on the set of Tinsel?

I got a call from a production manager of Tinsel Africa, and I felt somebody was trying to play a prank on me. He  called me and said he needed me on the production, I began to think about which of my friends was trying to play a prank on me. I did not know what to say or how it happened, it was like a miracle, because there are lots of actresses looking for that kind of opportunity, and here I was, in just a little while, I got a call from the biggest production crew in Africa.

What’s your notion on sex and sexuality?

 To me, sex is sacred and it’s not something you just do or something you just open your legs to do. It’s not that easy for me. I would rather do sex toys. Sex has a lot involved. It has emotions, attachments, spirituality. Sex is supposed to be sacred. It’s supposed to be a ritual for me. It is a thing two people indulge in because anybody you sleep with, there is a connection. You are connecting with them. Then, how many people are you going to sleep with? How many people do you want to now have sex with? It means if you are going to be delivered, you’d have a lot of bondages to break. That is even more stressful. It means you will fast extra and pray extra and for heaven’s sake, you don’t even know who your partner has been sleeping with. So, if he now decides to keep two more sexual partners and that partner decides to keep two more extra partners; two extra partners times two more extra partners, you know, it goes a long way. That is why sex is sacred to me and it shouldn’t be abused. It’s not like I’ve not had sex before or that I am trying to be holy or something, but it is just from own point of view that sex should be more like a ritual between two people.

How often do you use your toys?

How often? Maybe, two times in a month. And you know that when I mean two times in a month, as a lady, you only get turned on few days before your period and few days after your period. You know, you feel very ‘very’ horny.

So does it mean you are sexually attracted to Ramsey Nouah, whom you were reported to have always had a strong crush on?

At first, I was misconstrued by some bloggers. The ‘I want to have sex with Ramsey Nouah’ stuff doesn’t mean I’d just strip him naked and have sex with him. It’s just a way a woman feels when she is crushing on somebody. I still crush on Ramsey Nouah till whenever. I’ve been crushing on him for a very long time and I will still continue to crush on him but that does not mean I would literally strip him naked and pounce on him – Noo! That’s the wrong perception people have of me. Women have secret crushes inside but I’m just one kind of person who lets her feelings be known to the world.
