The #BringBackOurGirls group has called on the security agencies to keep an eye on the expansion strategies of the Boko Haram sects in order to avoid any future occurrences.
The group made the call, while responding to a report that at least five Boko Haram militants, who were in Mosul, Iraq, to undergo military training under ISIS were killed by Mosul Youth Resistance Movement.
It would be recalled that the spokesperson for Mosul, Saed Mamuzini, told the press that the Mosul Youth Resistance Movement, which was recently formed to act against Islamic State (IS) in Mosul, attacked the Boko Haram insurgents in the Dargaza neighbourhood of eastern Mosul on Wednesday, killing five insurgents;
“The Nigerian Boko Haram militants were in Mosul to take part in a military training course conducted by Islamic State (IS).” he said.
Also speaking at the sit-out, one of the members of the group, Elvis Iyorngurum, decried the treatment meted on many Nigerians who were said to be rescued by the military from the Sambisa Forest and those returnees from Niger, stating that most of them were being taken back to their states with no form of rehabilitation.
“Is there no agency that will take care of these people? They deserve to be given some form of love and compassion. We must acknowledge that they have come out from terror and need to be taken care of. They need to be rehabilitated. They should not be abandoned on their own. It is so inhuman and we need to talk about it so that the people involved will act,” he said.
Recently, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said it registered a total of 11, 449 Nigerian returnees from the Republic of Niger at the transit camp in Geidam, Yobe State and transported about 7, 000 of them to their various states.
