Former Oyo State governor and the candidate of the Accord Party in the April governorship election in Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja said he had uncovered plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter election materials.

Ladoja in a statement signed by the director general, Ladoja Campaign Organisation, Adeolu Adeleke specifically alleged that the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ambassador Rufus Akeju of allegedly altering the materials used in the last election so as to bastardise the petition of Accord Party candidate.

He said that it was on record that the REC had issued new incidents forms to electoral officer for fillings so as to have the same figure in the card readers especially in the local government areas where Ladoja had challenged the purported victory of the APC candidate, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

According to Ladoja, the action of the REC is an affront to the people of the state who  voted for Ladoja and who ought to have been declared by the popular votes as the winner of the election.

"We want to call upon the security agencies in the state to rise up to the challenges occasioned by the unprofessional, unethical and corruption behaviour of the REC," he said.

At the tribunal, he said Ladoja would be able to prove that the election results were manipulated by the REC to favour the APC candidate in the said election.

He added that the membership of the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in APC would be exposed.

The organisation observed with dismay the abandonment of responsibility by the state governor by travelling to overseas for about three weeks immediately Ladoja declared his intention to challenge his purported victory in the tribunal.

He added that Governor Abiola had rushed out of the country to evade the court service of Ladoja petition.

The organisation appreciated the continued support of the teachers, artisans, traders, civil servants, farmers, religious leaders and the generality of the people of the state.
