
Comerade Shehu Sani, Senator elect of Kaduna Central Senatorial District
Nigerians have been urged to be proactive in the monitoring of elected politicians towards fulfilling their campaign promises.
The National publicity secretary Afenifere and political Analyst Yinka Odumakin stated this while speaking with our correspondent in Ibadan.
Mr Odumakin said the reawakening of the citizenry will put political office holders on their toes as to fullfilling all promises they have made to them.
He noted "Nigerian citizen needs to take politics as a serious business because if they like it or not those in the realm of affairs are their representatives.
Mr. Odumakin who explained that the citizen must remain focused called for more enlightenment to make them informed about the dealings of government.
He said if the citizens are adequately informed they would be able to always ask questions from those in power.
According to Mr. Odumakin "if the citizen are armed with the right informations they will always ask questions if there is a failure in governance"
He also called on the opposition to live up to their expectation by giving constructive critism that would make the government of the day sit tight and fulfilled their promises to the electorate.
Also speaking with CEOAFRICA correspondent, a senator elect of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Comrade Shehu Sani advised politicians to make sure that they make only promises that they can fulfill during their electioneering campaigns.
Comrade Sani noted that if they make promises that they could not fulfil they would find it difficult in going back for re election.
He also called on Nigerians to document all promises that a politician made to them during their campaign and also remind of such if they are not fulfilled.
The senator elect also charged civil societies organisations in the country to live up to their responsibility by bridging the gap. Between the governed and and the government.
He said" civil societies must serve a bridging gap where they will echo the sound of Nigerians to the government so that they will them their problem.
