Anambra Commissioner declared wanted overN10.5m fraud

The Nigeria Police has declared the Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties,Barrister Vincent Ejikeme Ezenwajiaku wanted over alleged N10 million fraud.The Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police Special Fraud Unit, DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu said in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Thursday urged anybody With useful information on how to arrest him or his whereabouts to contact the police commissioner.

 

The police boss said that SFU was investigating a case of obtaining money by false pretence/forgery involving the serving commissioner in Anambra State.

In a petition to the police, it was alleged that sometime between 1996 and 2002, the suspect being the Managing Director of BIO Plastic Ltd invited the complainant to invest in his company as a Co-director to enable him acquire 34 per cent of the equity at the end of the investment.

 

The complainant agreed and paid instalmentally the sum of N10,582,540,00.

The petitioner further stated that the suspect induced him to part with his hard earned money by writing several letters promising and indicating huge potentials of the company, expected turnover and profitability, but later discovered that he hadinvested in a non-existence company, as it was never  registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

 

In the course of investigation, the police said detectives from SFU travelled to Anambra State with invitation letter duly served on the suspect."The suspect was expected to report to the office on 16th April,2013, but he failed to honour the police invitation. "Again, on 4th August,2013 detectives went to Awka with a Warrant of Arrest and he resisted arrest and maintained that he must see the Governor of the state or Commissioner of Police," part of the statement read. The police added that the suspect was taken to state CID where he made cautionary statement and subsequently released on bail to Obi Damian Okwudili who promised in writing to produce the suspect on 15th August, 2013 but all to no avail.

 

The police said that the suspect had deliberately refused to honour invitation as well as resisting arrest, adding that the surety had been arrested and would soon be charged to court.
