The Federal Government has on Wednesday approved the immediate purchase of another 30 buses from local auto manufacturer, Innoson Motors to ease transportation for civil servants.

CEOAFRICA news desk gathered from the statement of Labaran Maku, the Minister of Information after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) that the idea is in line with the Federal Government policy of patronising locally manufactured automobiles aimed at growing the local automobile manufacturing capacity.

Labaran also added that President Goodluck Jonathan also inaugurated the Presidential Committee of Experts on Inter-professional Relationships in the health sector, with a mandate to evolve strategies for more cohesive health sector workforce in the country.

He posited however that the procurement of the buses will serve as a welfare package for civil servants and as palliative for transportation following difficulties being experienced by civil servants living in satellite towns within the FCT.

He further noted that the buses apart from improving transportation are also expected to increase productivity and raise staff morale for service delivery.

“In view of the priority placed on service delivery at institutional and individual levels in the public service by the administration and the enormous benefits of the scheme on the lives of the beneficiaries, council ratified the president’s anticipatory approval for the procurement of 30 numbers of 33-seater diesel air conditioned Innoson bus IVM6800, in favour of Messrs Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd to the sum of N311, 850, 00.00”, the information Minister remarked.
