The National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd), has attributed the various successful operations by Boko Haram to the antagonism and lack of collaboration among security agencies in the country.

This was disclosed by the Coordinator, Counterterrorism Department, General Seriki Yaki Bello (retd), in Abuja at a-two day inter-agency peace building and development programme organised by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

General Seriki, representing Colonel Dasuki in the programme described the relationships among security agencies as chaotic, adding that the conflicts had resulted to negative consequences on the attainment of national security.

He maintained that it is only when security agencies begin to cooperate that the environment will be appropriate for peace building activities.

He particularly noted that the Office of the NSA had provided the platform to catalyse collaboration among security agencies, adding that the establishment of the Counterterrorism Department in his Office was to ensure that this synergy is achieved.

The NSA, however, said that the authorities have responded with appropriate measures to reduce inter-agency rivalry and conflicts, thereby facilitating cooperation and collaboration.
