The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved N15 billion for the protection of oil installations in the Niger Delta.
This was disclosed yesterday in Abuja by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, John Jonah, relating to the House Correspondence on the outcome of the council’s meeting headed by the Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo.
According to Jonah, the money would be used to procure the necessary equipment for the security agencies and in providing more security personnel, particularly in areas of need.
He further posited that the recently discovered 150 bunkering point vandalized by crude oil thieves would also be repaired
Governor Peter Obi also speaking at the occasion said the money would be contributed by the Federal and State government as well as the oil companies.
