From Lagos State, Nigeria, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that a man has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Abule-Egba, on an alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl.

Muhammadu Alabi, 32, a resident of Emmanuel Aina Street, Aboru, Ipaja, Lagos, was accused of raping the girl, who happened to be his neighbour’s daughter. He pleaded not guilty.

According to further findings from sources, the prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, explained to the court that the accused committed the offence on September 3, at his residence, when he called the girl to his room under the pretence of sending her on an errand.

Williams said the suspect, however, raped the girl, and her screaming attracted neighbours’ attention, which then rescued her and reported the incidence to the police. The offence contravened Section 137of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mr. Tajudeen Elias, granted him bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum, as the case was adjourned to October 8, for mention.
