CEOAFRICA gathered from Angola that the government of Southeastern Kuando Kubango province will invest a sum of US$375 million in the first phase of agricultural projects.

According to the information released to 250 excursionists of the “Movimento National Espontaneo” from the central Benguela province, by the deputy governor for economic affairs of Kuando Kubango, Ernesto Kitekulo, the project would also have other faces that would soon be completed.

He was speaking during the presentation of the socio-economic development plan for the 2013/2015 period, as part of a lecture on the province’s social and economic situation. The deputy governor added that the amount will be used both in the Longa agricultural pole and in the municipality of Missombo that will also produce rice, given the region’s water potential.

The province has so far harvested 1,300 tonnes of rice from the locality of Longa and the Government will invest further in the production of rice and vegetables in the region.

Furthermore, Kiteculo added that the province has a huge potential in such resources as agriculture and mining that includes gold, copper, oil, diamonds, uranium and others, which has attracted several international firms interested to invest.

On another note, the government would also invest a sum of US$ 350 million in tourism as this would attract investors from every part of Africa. The project will absorb idle ex-soldiers and unemployed youths from the region.

The Beguela excursionists are in Kuando Kubango under a programme called “Let us Know Angola.” It is intended to know the economic and social potential of each province of the Country, including culture and traditions.
