The Kigali MTN half-marathon, formerly known as ‘20km de Kigali’ has been scheduled to take place on October 20, this year.

According to the Rwandan Athletics Federation (RAF) which has conveyed this information, the annual competition changed its name after MTN Rwanda agreed to take over its sponsorship from the former sponsor (Coca Cola).

In the partnership of the two parties which will last for the next three years, the telecoms firm will have full control of advertisements in media (newspapers, radios and television), kits for participants and branded water bottles.

Meanwhile the organizers of this event which is said would be strictly for local athletes, have not yet revealed how the winners will be awarded.
