Osun State House of Assembly has inaugurated 9 committee members that would investigate a petition written against the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola by Justice Oloyede Folahanmi a serving Judge in the state.
The Speaker of the House, Honourable Najeem Salam while inaugurating the 9 members committee said the petition would be treated with all commitment because of the fact that it emanated from a serving judge in the state.
Members of the committee inaugurated include, The Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon Akintude Adegboye who is the chairman of the committee, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Timothy Owoeye.
Other members are Hon. Oladoyin Olayinka, Hon. Afolabi Olalekan, Hon. Adeleke Ogunsola, Hon. Gbola Adebayo and Hon. Akinola Olasunkani.
The Speaker also include the Director of Legal Services in the House, Mr. Kayode Titiloye and the Director of Legislative Management, Mr Simion Akinwale Amunsan which he said would also serve in the committee to assist the legislators in technical areas.
The Speakers said the committee has two weeks to carry out the investigation and summit its report for the consideration of the House. Salam added that the recommendations would be subjected to final deliberation by the entire members of the House.
However, the Minority Leader, Hon Makinde Oladejo, in a chat with our correspondent, frowned at the composition of the committee for non-inclusion of members of the opposition party in the House.
“There are two political parties in this House of Assembly. The committee comprised of only members of the ruling All Progressive Congress while those of us from the Peoples’ Democratic Party were left out completely. Therefore, the minority in the House has no confidence in the ability of this committee to do justice in this matter”.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon Adegboye Akintunde in his statement assured people of the state that the committee would investigate the matter thoroughly without bias or sentiment.
