High Chief( Senator) Lekan Balogun
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Lekan Balogun on Wednesday warned that the current internal wrangling in the party will break the country, saying that members of G-7 were being parochial.
Speaking with CEOAFRICA reporter in an exclusive interview in Ibadan, the party chieftain said the crisis was not that of the party but for the country. According to him, if the warring parties are not reconciled in the next two months, the crisis will explode to become a national problem.
The PDP chieftain who took swipe on the G-7 Governors over the crisis, said members were pursuing personal interest against natonal interest.
He said members were desperate for power, adding that three of the governors are eyeing the presidency while another is interested in vice president slot.
He said it was unfortunate that those who were opposing President Goodluck Jonathan were too temperamental and displayed a lot of egoism.
While noting some of the leaders were distorting facts because they want power at all cost, Senator Lekan Balogun said they were power drunk and selfish. He said they had abandoned democratic practice and norms.
Balogun who noted that some people have opposed Jonathan's second team ambition because he had been swore in twice, he said they ought to have seek the judiciary's interpretation of the law rather than engaging in parochial and selfish interest.
He added that the new PDP was not known to INEC, the party, saying that it was unconstitutional and they should come back to the largest party in Africa before it too late.
