
The 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State and the State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB) have shared N1.4billion bail out fund from the Federal Government.
In the same vein, the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) may suspend its industrial strike action immediately after the public holidays.
The state Chairman of NULGE, Comrade Adamu A. Umar confirmed this after a meeting at the Ministry of Finance conference hall in Ilorin.
Umar explained that there was dialogue between the State government and NULGE on the issue of bail out,saying that the outcome was pleasant.
He said that NULGE executives would summon stakeholders meeting to brief them about the out come of the meeting,saying the first leg of the intervention fund had already been shared by the 16 LGs and the SUBEB.
NULGE boss declared that the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has spoken with them from Saudi Arabia on the strike,promising to relay the outcome of the meeting to members.
The Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Kwara state chapter, Barrister Lateef Okandeji said the Council Chairmen have been instructed to use the bail out fund to pay outstanding salaries alone.
He said the fund was not meant for expenditure, over head or other financial obligation but basically to pay salary
