Pandemonium broke out outside the premises of the State High Court while the election petition tribunal handling the case between Senator Rasheed Ladoja and Governor Abiola Ajimobi sat was ongoing.
Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Accord party who were still outside the premises were bent on gaining entry into the court despite knowing well that the capacity of the court room could not contain them all. One of the soldiers comprising the security detail incidentally gave access to a member of Accord party; an action which infuriated APC members pleading for the same cause.
One of the APC supporters identified as Alhaja Bolajoko was the first person who reacted as she was reported to have shoved a member of the Accord Party in frustration of not being considered by the soldiers manning the gate. The fracas eventually burst its seams as supporters of both parties resorted to pelting nylons of satchet water on one another. While security operatives attached to the gate of the premises successfully repelled the warring individuals several perimeters away from the court, these unbending supporters were still not deterred as they kept exchanging expletives and promised to come full force at the next sitting of the tribunal.
Attempts by CEOAfrica to speak with some of the aggrieved individuals venting their anger at the security operatives were met by wild rebuttals. The election petition tribunal has been adjourned till 28th, July for further pre-hearing.
