A US military spokesman on Tuesday flatly rejected claims from a Kurdish militia source that coalition warplanes are coordinating airstrikes against Daesh in Syria with help from Syrian government forces, AFP reported.

Both Syrian and coalitions planes have been seen flying over Hasakah in recent days as Kurdish forces attempt to flush Daesh militants from the northern town.

An officer with the YPG militia told AFP the two air forces “communicate through a Kurdish mediator,” a claim that was later denied by US Central Command.

“U.S. aircraft are not coordinating in any way with Syrian government assets, neither directly or through an intermediary, nor have we in the past,” spokesman Major Curtis Kellogg told AFP.

A coalition comprised of the United States its allies is currently engaged in an airstrike campaign targeting Daesh territory in Iraq and Syria.
