The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is running a one-man show, thereby stating that he should appoint his cabinet and start serious business.

Leader of the group, Pa Rueben Fasoranti, who stated this in Akure, Ondo State, while assessing the first 100 days of the president, said President Buhari is exhibiting military style of leadership, since he assumed power in May 29.

The Afenifere leader also warned against dumping of the report of the national conference into the waste bin, saying the report would do the nation good than being argued by some people opposed to the implementation of the report.

He said “I think the president should sit and have a package. What people are saying is very correct. He is just picking people here and there.

“He has not got time to settle down for governance and time is flying.

“Let him constitute the cabinet and start working. As it is now, Buhari is still behaving like a military dictator. Just picking on people, he should sit and work. He is running a one-man show.”

He, however, said that Afenifere would continue to engage the present administration on the need to implement the report of the confab for the betterment of the country and the people.

He expressed optimism that the report would not be thrown away and when asked on the possibility of dumping the report, he said that “we will wait until then, because at that time, we will still want to express our opinion. When we were convinced, we will say it.

“The reason we supported Jonathan of course was because he agreed to carry out the decisions of the national conference. Present government is not working towards that and when the time comes, we shall speak again.

“Unless we implement the recommendation, Nigeria will not settle, saying the restructuring of the country and many other things are recommended in the report, which could turn the country around.

The octogenarian said “it will be a shame; In fact, it will be a disaster if the report of the confab got dumped somewhere. I am sure people will continue to talk until something is done.

“Although, APC did not like it, they didn’t attend, but the recommendations formed the blueprint for future Nigeria.”

He expressed shock over the demise of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, describing him as a quintessential monarch, humble, friendly and broad-minded, saying “Oba Sijuwade towered above other monarch.

“We shall miss him and his place will be very difficult to fill. He had showed that he had a goal, even in school, his colleagues accorded him respect; his teachers also treated him with respect, when he came to the throne, people were not surprise. He was a great monarch,” he said.
