Following the riots that greeted the appointment of former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, the Bauchi State Government has placed a dawn to dusk curfew indefinitely on Misau Town.

This was contained in a press release  signed by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Abdul Aliyu Ilelah, which was made available to newsmen in Bauchi, yesterday.

"Reports reaching the State Government have indicated that after the official announcement of the appointment of the eleventh Emir of Misau and the successful conduct of all the traditional rites, some mischief makers have taken advantage of the apparent jubilant mood of the people and instigated youths into smashing vehicles parked at the emir's palace.

"Government vie this development as the handiwork of the evil doers who are bent on destroying the prevailing peace and security being enjoyed in the state in order to enjoy selffish objectives," the statement read.

The statement further reiterated that the government would not fold its arms and watch mischief makers wreak havoc on lives and properties of citizens as the protection of lives and properties remains the cardinal responsibility of the present administration of the state government.

The government however assured the citizens of the State especially residents of Misau that the situation had been brought under control.

Law-abiding people are therefore implored to go about their normal activities as measures have been put in place to ensure their safety.

"As part of these measures, a curfew is hereby imposed with immediate effect. The period of the curfew is between 6: 00 pm to 6: 00 am until further notice, until it said," the statement said.
