Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Garba Deen-Muhammad on his election as president, Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
He also hailed the election of Steve Ayorinde, BusinessDay columnist, and Funke Egbemode, managing director and editor-in-chief, New Telegraph, as deputy president and vice-president (West) of the Guild, respectively.
In a statement on Sunday, the Senate president said though the requirements of their new responsibilities were daunting, he was convinced that the new officers had “what it takes to effectively and efficiently lead the organisation.”
He specifically urged Deen-Muhammad and the entire leadership of the NGE to lead the needed change in the journalism profession in the country, with the aim of making it more responsive and development focussed.
