The Kano State Police Command on Monday arraigned the director of human resources at the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Aminu Ahmad, for alleged trespass, criminal breach of trust and inciting public.
Arraigning the accused before Chief Magistrate Rakiya Sani, the prosecution counsel, Ahmed Rufai, alleged the accused had, on August 5, criminally conspired with one Ahmad Danlami to assault and intimidate the complainant, Ibrahim Babbale, by means of criminal trespass into his property situated at Nassarawa GRA Kano.
The police prosecutor also alleged that the accused person erected a large signboard on the property of Mr. Babbale, a barrister, with the intent of causing breach of public peace.
Reading the three-count charge slammed on the director, the police prosecutor said the accused person’s action contravened Sections 97, 342, and 114 of the Penal Code.
Mr. Aminu however pleaded not guilty to the charges, while his counsel, Tajudeen Funsho, prayed the court to grant him bail on self-recognition, relying on Section 71 of the criminal procedure code.
The police prosecuting counsel however objected to granting the accused bail on self-recognition, praying the court to place higher premium on the bail application, including signing of an undertaking that he will remain in peace.
After the court heard the two sides of the argument, the presiding chief magistrate therefore granted bail to Mr. Ahmad with N1 million naira and two reliable sureties who are to deposit their passports with the court.
