Ondo ocean surge displaces residents, destroys property

A recurring surge from the Atlantic Ocean in Ayotoro in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday, rendered hundreds of the community homeless.
The surge according to the residents of the community was aided by a downpour, which started in the wee hours of Tuesday and lasted for about seven hours.

Sequel to the surge, economic and social activities of the residents of the riverine community was affected adversely.
Disturbed by the situation the community cried to the State Government, which in turn sent a delegation from the Ministry of Environment, the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), to assess the situation.
The delegation also includes the officers of the State Environment Management Agency (SEMA).
