The Federal Government disclosed it has resolved all PHCN workers contending issues such that 38,000 worker would before the end of the week, have their payment of the severance package affected.
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Dr. Godknows Igali who blamed the few setbacks in the course of the exercise on the large number of people involved, also stated that government had enough fund for the process, but was careful to ensure that money was not paid into wrong account.
He declare that 45,366 persons out of the 47,000 staff has been so far captured, promising that others would be done after the office of the Accountant General of the Federation had finalized its processes.
Dr. Igali commended the labour for their show of patriotism while reiterating that the government is resolved to honour all obligations of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) workers.
Mr. Joe Ajaero, who spoke on behalf of the union, blamed the government for sending wrong signals as to what led to the stoppage of payment, which had commenced earlier, stressing that the labour did not expect the process to be indefinite.
He however commended the government for providing solutions to issues agitating the minds of the unions, admitting the need for biometric capture of all workers before payment.
