The Kano State Police Command said it had arrested two armed robbery suspects wearing army uniform on the Kano-Maidiguri Road and Kano-Zaria Expressway.

The spokesman of the command, ASP Magaji Majiya, made the disclosure on Thursday in Kano while briefing newsmen.

Majiya said that the first suspect, Rabi’u Hamisu, was arrested on September 1 on the Kano-Maiduguri Road.

He said Hamisu and three others now at large barricaded the highway and attacked motorists.

“They snatched a Golf car, stole N40,000 and other valuable items from a motorist,” he said.

The police image maker said the second suspect, Tasi’u Ashiru, who also wore army uniform, was arrested on August 30 on Kano-Zaria Expressway with sophisticated weapons.

Majiya said Ashiru confessed that he and his gang of four operated at Mararaba, Jos and Birnin Yero Road and Kano-Zaria Expressway.

Majiya said the police had commenced investigation, while efforts were being intensified to arrest the other fleeing hoodlums.

He said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was completed.
