Super Eagles of Nigeria remained unmoved at number 53 in the latest FIFA rankings on Thursday for the month of September.

The former African champions were adjudged the same rank in the world according to the ranking released in August 2015. The Eagles are now the ninth-ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo, Cameroon and Egypt.

Algeria remain at the summit of African football with 955 points which put them in the 19th position in the world while African champions Cote d’Ivoire are second in Africa and ranked 21st in the world.

Ghana stayed third on the continent after amassing 827 points which places them in the 27th spot in the world.

Nigeria's group opponents in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series also saw mixed fortunes as Egypt moved up three places to 49, Chad moved a place up to 171 in the world, while Tanzania remain unmoved to remain 140th in the world.

Chile (8th) are the only team to have made significant movement in the top ten, and they are now in their highest-ever position since the revision of the global ladder in 2006 and Congo (42nd) are in their best positions since 1993.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on October 1, 2015.
