Members of the National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare said the strike should not be allowed to take another week given the suffering students are going through.

The legislators, led by Kabondo Kasipul MP Silvance Onyango, spoke on the sidelines of a workshop organised for Ministry of Devolution and Planning officials at the Serena Hotel in Mombasa. At the same time, Baraza Kuu La Wazee Wa Pwani, also called on Government to resolve the teachers' pay dispute.

"This is third term, which ends with national examinations, and a prolonged strike will come as a big blow to school children and parents," said Chairman Abdalla Ali Mnyenze.
