On July 30, 2015, the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed in a press released that it had uncovered an insidious plot by the People Democratic. Party (PDP), in which it commissioned a team made up of persons within and outside the state to initiate, formulate and contrive false damaging reports bordering on alleged corrupt practices of Hon Chibuike Amaechi and circulate same to individuals and institutions within Nigeria and abroad, with a view to damaging the incorruptible character and rising profile of Hon Amaechi, in order to blackmail and put pressure on President Buhari not to appoint the former governor into his government.

Our release went further to reveal that the project, which had the blessing of the acting national chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, was driven by the likes of Rivers State Commissioner for Housing, Barrister Emma Okah, the Spokesman of the Rivers State Governor, Opunabo Inko-Tariah amongst others and would take the form of sponsored publications such as advertorials, columns, editorials and Oped articles in major international, national and local print media; sponsored personality discussion programmes on electronic media by public commentators; it will also include sponsored special documentaries for television and radio through independent groups and organisations.

We stated in that release that, The APC also uncovered those whom the cooked up report will be sent to, which included the US Embassy, UK High Commission, EU Commission, several international organisations such as Transparency International amongst others.

The forged report will also be sent to local and foreign media houses such as the BBC [Hausa Service], Dutch Radio, VOA [Hausa Service] amongst others for repeated publication and airing.

The press release concluded by putting Nigerians on notice to completely ignore such reports whenever they surface in the media in the name of fake and contrived individuals or groups.

Quite unsurprisingly to the APC, the PDP did not clearly refute the charge but only made some feeble denial.

However, exactly four days after, on August 3, 2015, the PDP plan rolled with a highly mendacious publication in major national newspapers, particularly the Sun and Thisday by one Livingstone Nwechie, a known PDP member who disguised as Director, Media/Publicity of a nebulous group by the name Integrity Group.

Mr Nwechie and his sponsors (PDP), apparently forgot that Nwechie was a member of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Rivers PDP governorship campaign organisation as published in The Nation Newspaper of Saturday, January 24, 2015.

As part of the strategic plan to destroy the former governor of Rivers State, Hon Amaechi, the publication dished out totally fabricated tissues of lies that belonged to the very depth of hell aimed at deceiving and hoodwinking the gullible.

Last Friday, the next major item on the PDP media terrorism scheme, premiered when it released a highly noxious, obnoxious and vexatious documentary, presenting the earlier publication by the Integrity Group in electronic format.
