Nigeria’s U23 team defeated their Ghana counterpart 2-0 in their opening game of the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.

Second half goals from Junior Ajayi in the 55th minute and Kingsley Sokari in the 87th minute saw Nigeria seal victory over their arch rival.

The Samson Siasia tutored side turned out stronger after both teams began on equal level, sizing each other.

Nigeria quickly improved and found their rhythm, and as a result dominated the first half that ended goalless.

After the break, Ghana failed to improve as Nigeria continued from where they left off, and pushing for an opener.

Their desire and resilience finally paid off just ten minutes into the break when Ajayi scored to put Nigeria ahead.

The lead did not take anything from the Dream Team as they keep putting more pressure on the defense of Ghana and gaining more of the possession.

That led to the winning goal with just three minutes left on the clock, as Sokari perfectly finished a team-pass around Ghana’s danger area to seal a 2-0 victory for Nigeria, who have now qualified for the knockout stage of the men’s football event at the All Africa Games with six points after walking over Egypt who pulled out of the championship.
