The project of the construction of a French car manufacturer Peugeot plant in Algeria is progressing as expected

This was made known by the Minister of Industry and Mines; Abdessalem Bouchouareb on Tuesday

"With the concerned partners, we are moving forward in the project Peugeot," Bouchouareb told a news briefing on the sidelines of a meeting with the Special Representative for the Algerian-French relations Jean Louis Bianco.

This project is expected to be concluded soon.

The meeting was an opportunity to give orientations about this project, according to the minister who declined to give details on the project and the partners before finalizing future negotiations.

A part of the production of the future assembly plant should be destined to export, affirmed Bouchouareb, who called the project a "complex" given its capacity of integration and subcontracting.

As for him, Special Representative for the Algerian-French relations said that the "discussions progressed with the companies concerned."

The creation of Peugeot plant in Algeria was decided during French President Francois Hollande's last visit to Algiers last June.
