Car Workers Protesting During the just Concluded Strike

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa accepted a 10% pay rise this year and 8% in the next two years.
Sources disclosed that the strike has causes severe disruption in the automobile business, especially to the exports. The industrial action forced BMW to stop all plans to expand in South Africa
Speaking to Journalists, the General Secretary of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), Irvin Jim, described the strike as a very tough one for them.
The car components' strike followed industrial action by workers at car manufacturers themselves, which hit production at BMW, Ford, Nissan and General Motors and cost an estimated $2bn (£1.24bn) in lost output.
