A grandmother and a driver, who simply identified himself as Ade, has been arrested for allegedly dumping the corpse of a seven-year-old girl, Iyadun Ajayi, at the back of a building in Esa Oke, Osun State.

Investigation revealed that the girl, who resided with the mother and her new husband, was said to have fallen ill, which later resulted to death.

Our correspondent gathered that the deceased’s mother, known as Funke, had divorced the girl’s father and married an Islamic cleric in Ilesa.

It was however gathered that Funke, sent her own mother, the driver, one Kazeem and her new husband to dump the girl’s body at the back of her former husband’s house in Esa Oke, which however led the cat out of the bowl while trying to dumb the dead body which resulted to some residents who saw them while trying to perpetrate the atrocity and raised alarm, while two of them were caught.

One of the residents, who pleaded anonymity, told our CeoAfrica in Osogbo on Monday that the incident happened on Thursday night.

He said, “We saw the people and challenged them, to know their mission. We discovered that they came to dump the corpse of a seven-year-old girl at the back of her father’s house.

“After checking the corpse thoroughly, we discovered that her private part had been removed, the two buttocks, the knees and ankles were also mutilated. We raised the alarm and two of them ran away but the grandmother and the driver were handed over to the police.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, promised to find out from the police division concerned and call our correspondent back, which she has not done as at the time of filling this report.
