Dr Willie Eselebor, the National  President of the  Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) and also a member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC).African Studies Association of Africa(ASAA). According to him, many things on Africa has been documented by Europeans but not properly done as an African would have. If the African continent is to have any relevance in the world affairs, its scholars should be able to come up with objective solutions to issues bothering the continent. The write-ups on Africa are not African friendly because the foreign researchers writing on Africa, in a way misrepresent the values of Africa, hence the forthcoming conference at the institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan will address the issue.

The venue of the conference is at the international conference centre UI, which of course is the only University in Nigeria with an institute of African Studies.

Dr Willie Eselebor also mentioned that the LOC is doing a lot as regards the logistics, he said  they are expecting about 200 participants at the forthcoming conference both from Africa and outside the continent. Amongst the line-up of events for the conference, the participants are expected to visit the Unesco Heritage site in Oshogbo, the Obasanjo Presidential library located in Abeokuta and so much more hospitality from the LOC.

Dr Eselebor, is expecting that at the end of the conference, African scholars will be able to bring to the forefront solutions to issues that challenge the continent as a whole within the perspective of an African.

The conference which is the first of its kind will be holding at the conference centre, University of Ibadan from the 14th – 16th October 2015.
