The court also dismissed the appeal of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Terhemen Tarzoor who had challenged Ortom’s victory.

The Supreme Court has upheld the victory of  Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom in the April 11, 2015 elections.

A seven-man panel of the apex court delivered the judgment today, January 15, 2016.

The court also dismissed the appeal of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Terhemen Tarzoor who had challenged Ortom’s victory.

Tarzoor had contested Ortom’s nomination by the All Progressives Congress (APC) but the court held that his party (PDP) lacked the locus standi to institute the suit.

The court said further that only a person who contested the APC primary election against Ortom that could challenge his nomination.

Tarzoor took his case to the Supreme Court after Ortom’s election was upheld by the Benue State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
