Idris Jimoh, the former deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state has reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Daily Sun reports that a source close to Jimoh disclosed that he was leaving the PDP with several of his supporters and the defection ceremony would take place soon.

No reason was given for his defection in a letter dated January 5 and addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Obeiba Ward One in Okehi local government area.

There are speculations however, that it may not be unconnected with how his ambition to contest the state chairman in September last year was frustrated by some prominent persons.

Report has it that Jimoh might get a juicy appointment in the incoming administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello who is his kinsman from the central axis of the state.

Recall that Jimoh had in October 2014 resigned to contest elective offices in the 2015 general elections. He resigned alongside Secretary Emma Egwu.

Members of the PDP and other rival parties have been defecting en masse to the ruling APC. In some states, the reverse is the case as some have been defecting to PDP.

Three days ago, no fewer than 500 women in Udaba community, Etsako Central local government area of Edo state have dumped their parties for the PDP.
