Currently the only African country proven to have cases of the virus is Carpe Verde.

The Zika fever is a disease caused by the spread of the Zika virus by mosquitos. The fever has been predicted by WHO to affect about 4 million or more people if not properly tackled. Currently the only African country proven to have cases of the virus is Carpe Verde.

  1. Mostly transmitted by mosquitoes, from the blood of an infected person to another.
  2. The mosquitoes that spread the virus mostly bite in daylight.
  3. The mosquitoes that spread the virus also spread Dengue and Chikungunya viruses.
  4. No vaccines has been proven to cure the virus yet, but is treated by rest.
  5. According to CDC, the most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes)
  6. The virus can also transmitted via sexual interactions and passed from an infected mother to a child through the placenta.
  7. It is reported to cause microcephalyin newborn babies.
