DR Congo became the first team to win two African Nations Championship titles, after they defeated Mali 3-0 in the 2016 final, at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Sunday.

The Leopards who won the first edition of the tournament in Ivory Coast in 2009, put in a dominant performance against the Malians, to claim the trophy again.

Mechak Elia scored a brace, while Jonathan Bolingi also got on the scoresheet for DR Congo.

DR Congo’s clean sheet on the night ensured they lifted the CHAN trophy without conceding a goal in the final.
