CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Mexico that a gas explosion in the central Mexican State of Puebla, has killed at least six people.

The explosion which started at the natural gas storage plant located in Chachapa industrial park set off a fire which engulfed much of the area, although the cause of the blast is yet unknown.

The main highway linking Mexico City and Veracruz was closed for more than four hours as firefighters brought the blaze under control, while businesses and homes were evacuated in a radius of 3km (two miles).

The incident which occurred around 23:30 GMT at the Tomza Gas, happened when most of the staffs had already finished their shift. But four bodies were initially found soon after the blast while the remaining two other burnt bodies were discovered later in the rubble.

Tomza is a major marketer of gas tanks and cylinders for household, commercial and industrial use.
