Acting Gov pledges to overhaul state-owned media-Taraba

CEOAFRICA gathered that the Acting Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Garba Umar while interacting with members of the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Jalingo has vowed to examine and transform the state-owned media outfits to meet the current global standards.

According to source, the governor made it known that subventions have been restored to the media houses to keep them in operation stating that plans are underway to completely overhaul them for better service delivery.

 Umar also that the government would continue to pursue developmental projects such as roads construction, water and electricity among others for the benefit of the people, while commending the maturity and professionalism in which they reported the recent misunderstanding in the state.

While speaking, the state chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Abdullahi Gambo, appealed to the acting governor to assist the union to rehabilitate its press centre and also urged the state government to facilitate the take-off of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism Centre in Jalingo, saying the institute would take care of the training needs of journalists in the North East geo-political zone.
