NIGERIA ECONOMIC GROWING DESPITE TERRORISM -SAYS INFORMATION MINISTER

The Nigeria Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has established at the ongoing World Press Conference that the Economy of Nigeria has maintained steady growth even in the face of terrorism.

The Information Minister in his long but very significant address at the press symposium unravels that contrary to the views of some people against the nation’s economy, Nigerian has created confidence by virtues of its economic growth such that it can get credit facility from any part of the world.

He purported that Nigeria is gradually coming up through transformation reforms of the present administration, stating that it has attracted investors and lots of investment which promises wide job creation.

Deliberating on the state of economy, Labaran Maku disclosed that there is tremendous increase in export earnings from non-oil sector rising from what used to be 9% by 2008 to 31%, stressing that there has been growth in terms of export while the rate of import is coming down.

Labaran highlighted that the administration has also ensured the stock market is recovering, the country GDP on the rise, stability in exchange rate, decline in foreign expenditure, strong banking system, all in line with the mission of moving the nation forward.

He further illustrated that the administration has through its efficient management of the economy, captured and retrieved about N118.9 billion from ghost workers among 215 MBA’s who receive salaries from federal government.

The Information Minister also commented on the ongoing ASUU strike insisting that the Federal Government has done what it has done in the best interest of education, and also urging the University lecturers to accept what has been offered and open the universities.
