National Confab: I believe strongly in Femi Okurounmu Chairmanship- Chief Lekan Balogun

High chief (Senator) Olalekan Moshood Balogun, Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, a former Senator and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria and an ardent politician while talking on the national conference, said he believes that Femi Okurounmu, the Chairman of Committee for National Conference/Dialogue, will deliver a quality and objective report on the national conference.

 While speaking in an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA online news at his residence on Monday, he said whoever chose Femi meant well.

According to him, “I know Femi very well, you cannot lord anything over him’’, and “Femi cannot be bought over to say what he does not mean, if it is right, it is right for Femi’’.

He said “the choice of Femi as the Advisory Committee Chairman of the Confab made me think the President is sincere about making Nigeria what the founding fathers intended it to be’’.

Chief Lekan while answering questions with our reporter said Femi is a progressive, “I don’t mean “Panadol progressive o’’, I mean truly progressive. “I can vouch for him anytime’’. He said.

Nigerians should expect a focused and quality performance. “I feel reassured that a man like Femi was chosen’’.

While talking on the issue of National Conference, the prominent PDP chieftain said it is necessary at this point in time as it will afford Nigerians the opportunity to site how they want to be governed. “We haven’t done that before’’, “confab is the solution to the problem of Nigeria now, because we have been agitating for it for over 25 year now’’.

“It is an opportunity to ask whether the state a president or governor comes from, the religion he practices, should matter in our collective national interest. It is a forum where by the fundamental rights of individual will be made known, it is an opportunity for the peoples’ constitution to be created’’, he said.
