CEOAFRICA gathered that 127 people were killed in a five-hour battle between Islamic extremists and army troops on Thursday, in the capital of Yobe State.
According to the source, the report of the alarming scene came from army and police officers.
This current killing together with the previous reports within the month is said to have expectedly raised doubts about military claims that they have the upper hand in Nigeria’s fight to halt an Islamic uprising in the northeast.
In addition to the massacre, the report also stated that the attackers burnt down three buildings at the headquarters of the Police Anti-Terrorist Squad, set fire on Police Criminal Investigation Department Offices and four other scattered across the city and also burnt armored car belonging to the army troop.
The report also purported that the attacker also looted the armoury and set the barracks ablaze with improvised explosive devices, also looting drugs and bandages from hospital as the medical staff fled in terror.
