From Egypt, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that a Muslim Brotherhood leader, Essam al-Erian, has been apprehended by authorities as part of later moves in a crackdown by the interim government against the Islamist movement.

It was revealed by sources that Mr. Erian was arrested few hours ago at an apartment in the New Cairo area and taken to an undisclosed area.

Mr Erian is vice chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the Brotherhood's political wing.
