Pandemonium in Ibadan as bus driver kills a woman

Tragedy struck in Agodi Gate Ibadan, when a commercial bus driver accidentally hit and killed a woman who was alleged to be pregnant when trying to resist a local taskforce.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the commercial bus driver (Name withheld) was going to Lagos before being intercepted by local task force, popularly called “Agbero’’.

According to an eyewitness, the Agbero was reportedly dragging the steering with the driver and in a bid to escape, the driver hit the woman.

 The eyewitness further disclosed that angry mob wanted to deal with the driver but were restricted by police officers deployed from Agodi Gate divisional Police HQ who came to the scene and insisted on taking the driver to the station. Not satisfied with the decision of the police to ensure safety of lives and properties in the area, the mob started stoning the police.

The Acting Police Public Relation Officer of Oyo state command, Ignatius Inyang (ASP), during a phone conversation with CEOAFRICA online news, confirmed the incident and said that if not for the police intervention, the case would have gone out of control.

He also said the deceased was not pregnant and her corpse has been deposited at Adeoyo Hospital at Yemetu area of Ibadan, while the driver is currently in police custody as investigation is ongoing.
