News reaching the news desk of CEOAFRICA is that nurses in Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, will commence an indefinite strike action today owing to alleged refusal of the state government to pay two month salary arrears owed since 2009 to sixty of its staff.

This was made known by the secretary of Delta State Chapter of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, Mr. Olabode Akinfenwa, through a statement stating that the decision to embark on the strike was due to the lip service of government towards paying the salary arrears for 60 nurses after their employment since 2009, which according to the association is breach of contract.

The statement also alleged that the nurses were asked to buy uniforms provided by management of the hospital, which it noted, was an aberration against the state employment policy for nurses and midwives, adding that the hospital cannot compel NANNM members to obey such a policy.
